SOAP: No procrastinating for this test

Scripture: Mark 13: 34-35

34“The coming of the Son of Man can be compared with that of a man who left home to go on a trip. He gave each of his employees instructions about he work they were to do, and he told the gatekeeper to watch for his return. 35 So keep a sharp lookout! For you do not know when the homeowner will return-at evening, midnight, early dawn, or late daybreak.

Observation: We have been given instruction to follow the Lord’s commands and be prepared for his return, as it could come at any time.

Application: Do not put off the Lord’s work. You cannot cram for this exam because you do not know when it will be, or wait until the last minute to ‘finish’ this project. Prepare for Him always.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for this reminder that your work should come first. Your instructions are the ones I should follow always. And I must make time for you and your Word above all other things so that I will always be prepared and never rusty. I cannot put off reading the Bible, praying or studying or sharing your word, as I cannot be sure of when my ‘final exam’ will be. I must be vigilant, and fill myself with your Word so that I can always be overflowing.
