SOAP: Encouragement for everlasting life

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

13And now, brothers and sisters, I want you to know what will happen to the Christians who have died so you will not be full of sorrow like people who have no hope. 14For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus comes, God will bring back with Jesus all the Christians who have died.

Observation and Application: This passage continues to explain the resurrection of all the Christians. I really like how it outlines so clearly what will happen upon Jesus’ return. This passage has to be comforting to those whose believing loved ones have passed. I also find it encouraging for myself: I know what will come of me. Jesus will come back for me me and I will live with him.

Prayer: Lord, I find this passage so encouraging and straightforward. Thank you for using Paul to share this with us so that we might find peace in an otherwise unsettling area.

Please help all who are grieving to get comfort from your truth that those who are Christians will rise again and be with Jesus.

Guide those who need it to this passage and help me to remember it when I need to share it, as well.

Thank you for your Word. And thank you for the promise of everlasting life with you. Wow, what an amazing chapter lies ahead!

  1. That is so amazing. It’s so great to know that THIS life is not our “real” life. This is just a prelude to the wonderful eternity we will spend with God.

  2. to me, who just lost an uncle yesterday who was not a christian it is kinda a downer. But he was an adult, and made his own decisions. We did all we could.
