SOAP: God’s POV is much better than my own

Scripture: Matthew 16:23

Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, and not from God’s”

Observation: Jesus explained to Peter that Peter had the wrong perspective and consequently was working against God.

Application: God’s will and God’s perspective are different than mine. I am human and I have a limited understanding of things, especially when you compare my perspective to that of God.

I need to step back and try my very best to glean what His perspective might be. Things that look very bad on my end (the suffering and undeserved punishment of Jesus) might not make sense to me (or Peter at the time), yet it had to happen. Jesus knew that. God knows that. At the time, no one else understood that. How painful that must have been.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for being a loving creator. Thank you for being the one in charge and for being so merciful.

Please forgive me when I second (or third-) guess you. And thank you for that forgiveness even before I asked you for it.

You are all-knowing and all-powerful. Please help me to assume the position you have created for me and follow as you would have me follow. Guide me in learning your perspective and in dropping my selfish one.

Thank you, Lord, for the comfort in knowing that you really are in control… Even when I get scared and confused.
