SOAP: If you have questions, just open up the Bible and read

Scripture: Matthew 17:5

But even as he said it, a bright cloud came over them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved son, and I am fully pleased with him. Listen to him.”

Observation: This was a definite sign that Jesus was indeed who he said he was. The three men heard it. God told them who Jesus was… and that He was pleased with him.

Application: It amazes me how the New Testament can be filled with so many undeniable miracles and signs and yet people can deny Jesus’ identity.

I do remember when I questioned who he really was and couldn’t grasp that all these stories mentioned actually happened and were not just fables. Having the questions made me a little uneasy, but they lurked and I knew I had to have them answered.

When I read the Bible, cover to cover in 90 days, my questions fell away. No, not all of them were answered, but many were. In reading I was spending time with the one who made me… The one who wanted me to really know him. And he comforted me and upset me and comforted me again.

Reading the entire Word opened my eyes to so many miracles, gifts and wonders… and he reveals more to me as I spend even more time in the Word.

If you have questions, read the book. And listen. And God will reveal himself to you in a way that will be just for you. Sure, you and I will read the same words, but they will touch our hearts individually, uniquely, because the Bible is not just a book to read. It is the living Word of God crafted for all of us and for each of us.

So if you have questions, (And who doesn’t?) just open it up and start reading. And eventually you will be overwhelmed by God’s love and God’s master plan.

Prayer: Oh Lord, thank you for speaking to me through the Bible. Thank you for allowing me to come to you whenever I am ready and always being there, waiting, listening and loving. Thank you for enabling so many to take in your word at their leisure.

Please embolden those that just think about reading your word to really jump in and get to know you better. Thank you for showing me how to make it a commitment. Help me to inspire others to your glory, Lord. I want everyone to know you and not feel confused and lost and be afraid to speak up and ask questions. Embolden those with questions to seek answers from you. And guide us all in meeting with you in your Word as you would have us meet you there.

Thank you, Lord, for taking me to this place in my life that I want to share this experience with others. Thank you for keeping hold of me through all my questions. Thank you for not giving up on me, but continuing to pull me closer.

And thank you for allowing me to speak your name and share my experiences with you with others.
