SOAP: He gave me the power. I just need to call on it.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.

Observation: The Holy Spirit does not instill fear. The Holy Spirit brings boldness, strength, kindness and the ability to stick to it and do what is right.

Application: So often I let fear rule my actions and emotions. When this happens, sometimes I wonder if God is sending me a warning message. This verse makes me wonder, though, if those occasions are times when I’m letting Satan in to steal my joy.

God loves me. He has given me strength in his Holy Spirit. He wants me to succeed at the  good things and overcome Satan’s evil plots.

I need to remember to call on the Lord when I feel myself slipping in to fear.

And I need to remember that God has given all of us a beautiful gift. The fruits of the spirit ARE within me. I just need to have confidence in them ALWAYS and allow them to prevail within me, not Satan.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit. You give us more than eternal life with you (which is huge), as you also give us the gift of being with us always through the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the spirit. Wow!

Please forgive me all the times I wonder if a bad feeling I have might be from you, when it is actually Satan trying to get in and steal my joy.

Please guide me in remembering that you put a spirit of strength, and a power of love and a power of self-discipline in me. You want good for me. And you’ll guide me to that when I let that spirit lead me.

Lead on, Lord. I want to follow you alone.

  1. good post. I going through the Me, Myself and Lies workbook with the Siesta Summer Bible Study group and we are learning that God’s grace is in us…..even when we ourselves don’t feel graceful, or gracefilled.

    similar concept.
