SOAP: He’s watching

SOAP_RING_featured

Sometimes I need to remember that God is right here with me, watching me and guiding me as I call on Him.

Last week I was at a conference where He reminded me that He has me… and that I should have faith in that. (Yes, I need to do my homework, but He will provide the opportunities that are best. I just need to be ready and then embrace the opportunities He provides.)

To help me remember that, I am working to memorize Psalm  121 over the next week or so. In doing so, I am also going to SOAP through it backwards, starting from the bottom and working my way to the top. (You can click over to this previous post to know why I’m memorizing it bottom to top, if you’d like.)

With that in mind, here’s some SOAP for today: (How I’ve missed my SOAP!!)

Scripture: Psalm 121:8

The Lord will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.

Observation:

He is there, watching and knowing all about me always.

Application:

Taken alone, this sounds a bit spooky and like that ’80s song “Somebody’s Watching Me.” But I don’t think that is what God has in mind here. It isn’t a threat. It isn’t a stalking thing. It is a true love thing. He’s got me. He’s watching, always, and He knows what I am facing, always. He does that out of love. This verse He shared so I would now that I will not be alone- even when bad things happen, or seemingly bad things happen. He is present. And I can call on Him always.

Prayer:

Lord, sometimes I do feel alone and that no one can really understand just what I am facing. Thank you so much for this reminder that I am never truly alone. You are with me, watching all I do and all I face forever. When I am frustrated and wondering what to do, will you please guide me in remembering this and your love for me? I need to know that. It is comforting. I love you, Lord. Thank you for loving me right back, always, even when you see me making mistakes. (ugh)

PS: This brings to mind a song I learned as a child:

“All night, all day, angels watching over me my Lord…”

Anyone else???
