Good morning!
It has been awhile since I’ve published a devotional. Today I felt drawn to do so and so, rather than scribble on with my pen in my journal, I reached for my laptop so I could share with you. I do hope it brings some light, joy and truth to you.
I’ve been making my way through the She Reads Truth devotional series for quite some time and really love it for it’s simplicity and yet depth at the same time. My verse today comes from the fuller reading there. (You can check it out at She Reads Truth if you want to read the full devo for today.)
Alrighty. I’ll jump right in with the SOAP of the day:
SCRIPTURE:
They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them integrity of heart and action so that they will fear me always, for their good and for the descendants after them. — Jeremiah 32: 38-39
Observation:
I will be with them and they will be mine. I will give them an internal way to know the right paths and actions to take. This will help not only them, but all who come after them.
Application
Way back in Jeremiah, in all the craziness and uncertainty of that time (sound familiar??), God said that we will be His, that he will enable us to know what is right so that we may follow truth– for our own sake and for those who come after us.
With the knowledge of what comes in the New Testament, this says to me that this integrity will come from the Holy Spirit, and that the Holy Spirit is available to all of us, to be within us. I believe He is saying that those who are his (who accept him) will know integrity— that we will know right and wrong.
We do have to listen to actually KNOW that, though. (And of course we have to have accepted to Holy Spirit into us to gain that connection.) Ask, listen and hold what is heard up against other things we know to be true. He will lead us on the right path.
I also believe this isn’t an instant treasure trove of knowledge that we know exactly how to handle. I believe it takes time and commitment to really hear Him well. It is something well worth pursuing, in my book.
Prayer
Father God, I am so grateful for the wisdom you want to share with us and the wisdom you do share with us when we pause and listen. Please help me to hear YOU above all the buzz, above all the false messages. I want integrity of the heart and integrity in my actions… always. Guide me please in seeing truth and keep me from being led astray by falsehoods. Thank you, Father.
