SOAP: Sometimes, you just can’t help but share (even when you work in wine)

Happy Saturday!

This morning, as promised yesterday, I’m changing things up and sharing a full passage to read from which to pick your one SOAP message. I’ll share what struck me in the passage here, but please, if you can, take the time to read the entire passage on your own and listen to what God wants to share with you, too.

Just as when I began using SOAP here on MomsToolbox, I’m going back to the Faithbridge reading plan. Each day lists some Old Testament, some New and perhaps a Psalm or Proverb. For now, at least, I’m just going to focus reading the New Testament reading.

Today’s Reading:

Acts 4

Scripture:

“As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

–Acts 4:20

Observation:

The disciples were so moved by what they experienced, there was no way they could keep it to themselves.

Application:

I’d like to add that the disciples were also emboldened by what they saw and hear. They were amazed, themselves, and so how could they not share?

God does some pretty amazing things in our lives. Sometimes we see them clear as day, and sometimes it takes looking back to see the pieces.

In any event, when you see His mighty hand, I hope you feel emboldened to share. He’s pretty incredible!

Don’t have fear for repercussion in sharing. His word and actions are true.

I work in wine.

I’ve had a few people raise their eyebrows  at me about that.  The fact that the “Bible in 90 Days blogger” would dare branch out to blog about wine (And develop an app– gasp!) is something that rubs a few people the wrong way. And, to be honest, the fact that I’m pretty open about my Bible reading has made more than a few wine industry people look at me differently– in good and questioning ways. (Have you seen my Instagram feed lately? It’s quite the mishmash of wine and Jesus!!)

I cannot help but speak about what I have seen and heard… the gifts and experiences from Him. And so I merge the two worlds. As I do that, I wonder what He is really up to in presenting both of these worlds to me. I never expected to lead thousands worldwide into reading the entire Bible. I never expected to share my daily devotionals online, until I was led to do it. Ten years ago I sure didn’t expect to have built a wine data company and wine app. Neither of those things were on my RADAR growing up– or even in college. And yet He led me right down each of those paths. (Yes, I have had many confirmations along the way.)

So I will continue– listening, following, trying my best at living… and speaking out about what I have seen and heard. Because I have seen some amazing stuff, just as I am sure you have, when you’ve opened your eyes to it.

Prayer:

Father God,

Thanks for giving me the courage to follow you and share about it. Thank you for acting in my life and seeking me. Thanks you for accepting me as I seek you.

Please, Father, help others to see your guidance and actions in their own lives and be so moved and emboldened that they MUST share in love. You are always there, so I ask that you help all of us to SEE you and follow you.

Father, please also guide me as I learn how you want me to share our story– what to say, how to say it and when to share. I love being a  part of your plan. Please guide me to be honoring in all I say and do. (Because we both know I slip up sometimes!!)

Thank you, Father!

PS: See those wine bottles behind the wine verse up there?? Those are from our latest VineSleuth/ Wine4.Me evaluation. I couldn’t resist using them for the backdrop!
