SOAP: Strength comes from the Lord

Scripture: Psalm 121: 1-2

1I lift my eyes up to hills—

Where does my help come from?

2My help comes from the Lord,

the maker of heaven and earth.

Observation: God gives me strength. And he is mightily powerful!

Application: Today I am participating in a 62-mile bicycle ride to raise money for and awareness of breast cancer. I have been training, but I know my real strength today (and always) will come from the Lord. He is the one who will push and carry me through. He is also the one who has built my body up. And he is who I will call out to today when I’m getting tired.

Prayer: Lord, you are an amazing mighty God who created all the earth and the heavens. The glorious mountains were designed by you, the breathtaking vistas… all you. The glistening oceans, lush meadows—all you, too. You are incredible and powerful and mighty. And YOU, alone are my source of strength.

Today I am asking you to fuel my body, and the bodies of many others, with your strength.

Guide me in cycling my best and growing in my confidence again as I train for an even bigger ride in 3 weeks.

Thank you, Lord, for my healthy, strong body. Please be with those whose bodies are growing weaker and fill them with the strength of your spirrit in other ways. Don’t let them feel abandoned by you, but cherished and strengthened in ways I cannot imagine.

Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. And thank you for your strength.
