SOAP: The Ultimate Fear Buster (even for stage-fright)

GOd is with me

Scripture:

“God is with me.

I will not be afraid.

What can man do to me?

–Psalm 118:16

Observation:

He’s got me. What is the worst that can really happen? Won’t He have victory over anything man can do?

Application:

Fear has a nasty grip sometimes.

But His grip is tighter and stronger.

Remembering that grip HE has on us can calm you, if you let it.

It has certainly helped me through stressful, potentially scary situations.

Yes, I have called out on situations I thought were life and death and He calmed me.

He’s calmed me professionally, too:

I remember the first time I spoke at an IBM function I was starting to get nervous. (My startup is an IBM Watson partner.)  The stage was white. The steps leading up to it were white. I kept thinking about how I might trip and fall and bust my nose all over the steps or something.
But then I reminded myself God put me there. And even if I did do that, He’d still have me. And everyone probably would have been nice. And so I got up on that stage when it was my turn, didn’t trip, smiled and delivered my speech.

They invited me to present again, so I must have done well enough. :)

He had me. He had prepared me for THAT moment.

He has you, too. Ask Him to guide you.

Prayer:

Father,

Thank you for this reassurance that YOU are HERE. And that YOU have us. Even in bad times, or scary times, your power is stronger than any other. Ultimately, you win. I’m so thankful you have me.

Please help me to remember to call on that knowledge, and You, in times of trouble. Thank you for answering so many times in the past already.

I love you.
