SOAP: Yet I will rejoice

SOAP Rejoice

Good morning, friends!

This morning I am off to New York City to attend the National Retail Federation’s Big Show and meet with some innovative grocers, wine retailers and potential partners. Then, once that is over, I’ll be off to the Finger Lakes of New York where my startup  is hosting a wine evaluation to add more wines to our database and prepare for a few special events. I’m pretty psyched!

To get me really ready to go, though, it’s now time for SOAP.

Ready?

Let’s do it!

Scripture:

“…Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will rejoice in God, my Savior.”

–Habakkuk 3:18

Observation:

Even when things don’t seem to be going my way, I should find joy in His gifts to me, because He is giving me eternal life.

Application:

Sometimes situations aren’t all that great. Sometimes they can get really bad.

But He is always there, with me, even in the ick.

Recognizing that and thanking Him, in thick or thin, is important. We are instructed to rejoice, but also pausing to refresh, reframe and rejoice in what are given by Him, instead of what we are lacking or are frustrated about, can bring us at least a spark of joy. If we choose that perspective. And often, that spark can lead to a lot more warmth.

Prayer:

Father God, you are so good to me, always.

Thank you.

Thank you for being there in the success and for being there in the frustration, showing me your light.

Sometimes, though, it is hard to find my joy. It is hard to see the sunshine. Tahnk you for this reminder that there is always some sunshine– eternal life with you is a pretty massive deal. Thank you for that… and for so, so much more.

I love you.

A few things to think about…

What do you do when you get down in the dumps?

How can you prepare yourself for those times?

Do you keep a gratitude journal?

What are a few things you can always be thankful for having in your life?

I’m thankful for YOU reading this today. I really am– it’s energizing to get your tweets, Instagram messages, Facebook messages, comments and emails. Thank you.

But even bigger than all that, are His promises. Those are amazing… and, to be honest, I don’t stop and think about eternal life with Him often enough. I think I’ll work on that.

XOXO
