SOAP: Use me! I want to help bring on the celebration!

Scripture: Luke 15:10

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Observation: This verse comes in the middle of three parables: one about the lost sheep, this one about a lost coin and then the one about the lost son.

In each, there is great rejoicing when what is lost is found.

God is telling us that there is great happiness when one who is lost, or turns away, is found or returns to the Lord.

Application: I want to be in on the celebration!

When I’ve read through these parables before, I’ve most often thought about not being jealous over the party as the son who remains with his father is when the lost son returns. And I’ve thought about how thankful the lost son would feel after humbling himself and asking for forgiveness… that would be difficult!

In all three, I’ve thought about how happy the one who lost something would be when it is recovered.

This morning, something different struck me. I found a new application for me: I want to be in on the rejoicing. And I want to be a part of making the Lord rejoice more. I want to help find the lost sheep, the lost coin and bring back the lost son.

Prayer: Lord, I am yours. Use me! I want to help bring on the celebration.

It has been so exciting for me to see how you’ve used me in the past week… and I’m excited to see where you are taking me.

Please continue to equip me and send ministry opportunities my way.

And, Lord, please touch all those that are reading this today that they may see how you can use them to bring home the lost sheep, coins and sons so the great rejoicing may continue.

PS: If you are joining me in praying for our husbands daily at Noon, today we are praying for their work.
