Text Google for directory assistance information

I used to be pretty regular user of directory assistance from my cellular phone.

(I know, I know… I can almost hear all you frugal bloggers out there gasping.)

But now I am a changed woman.

I have finally put into practice something that the twenty-something girl at the cell-phone store taught me long before I became an avid texter.

Instead of calling directory assistance, she told me to text Google (466453) with the business name and a nearby city or zip code to find a phone number or other contact information. In about a second, Google texts back with several of the nearest listings with the address and phone number hot-linked, ready to  make a call with a touch.

Super-fast, super-cheap (comparatively) and super-easy. Totally Works for Me!

I now list Google as one of my contacts to make it even easier.

Cha- Ching!

Google is great! I don’t have texting, so I call them instead – 1-800-466-4411 It does make picking up Chinese on the way home a little tooooo easy, though!

  3. I use 1-800-FREE-411 from my cell phone. You have to listen to an ad while the number is looked up, but otherwise I think its like calling the normal directory assistance.

    1. Ooh! Thanks for the tip!
