Thanks to those who keep us safe

It is so easy to forget what our soldiers are doing all over the world for us.

It is so easy to get caught up in the politics of it all and not realize that those soldiers are real people, following orders to keep us safe so we can live our lives in almost any way we chose.

And in following those orders, they leave behind their families, so that we can feel safe playing with our kids almost anywhere.

We don’t have to worry about suicide bombings at the mall or restaurant. We don’t have to worry about worshipping as we choose. We don’t have to worry about so many things because those men and women have been pretty darn good at keeping us safe.

And they give up so much of what we take for granted. Sure, some husbands and wives travel for work… a lot. But most likely they aren’t traveling into harm’s way, leaving behind families for really extended periods of time.

I’m not trying to make anyone feel guilty here. But please, remember all those military families in your prayers and say thanks when you can.

And when you’ve got a minute and a tissue, please head on over to my sister-in-law’s blog. As a military wife living on base, she’s knows a lot of people who are serving us every single day. And she’s got something beautiful to share.
