The MS 150 is coming…

Here’s a little video of me singing…

So what did you think of my little song? I recorded that video about a week and a half ago while training in the hills.

The MS 150 is this weekend and I haven’t been the best at fundraising this year. Come to think of it, I haven’t really done my best at training this year, either. But the MS 150 still looms and Multiple Sclerosis still impacts more people than it should.

So I dropped my bike off for one last check up today and I’m drinking a lot of water this week. I intended to cycle a bit this week, but instead I am relaxing and trying to heal a hurt muscle from a fall I took on a hill in Bastrop just before I recorded that video. (Please consider praying for my recovery. I think I’ll be okay, but I don’t want anything holding me back on Saturday.)

And I’m writing this post (gulp) to see if any of you might consider contributing to the MS Society on my behalf.

I have the utmost respect for the MS Society. I have seen them in action in terms of four MS 150s and one other 2-day ride and I see how they run a lean operation and don’t waste a dime. I have complete confidence that any donation to them will be put to excellent, efficient use in helping those impacted by the devastating effects of MS.

I realize that budgets are getting tighter and tighter, and that many of you already have other organizations which are close to your heart, so if it is not right for you to contribute, I understand. But if you can be generous, whether that means $10 to $1,000 or more, I would love for you to consider contributing to the MS Society in support of my ride.

Whether you choose to contribute or not, please consider praying for me and the other riders this weekend. Last weekend I saw a rider being taken away in an ambulance after a nasty fall. Please pray for our protection, endurance and strength. And please pray for those impacted by MS, too.

You can contribute on my behalf or learn more about MS by following this link to my fundraising page.

Please, feel no obligation to contribute. But if you are interested, please click away…

And for those of you reading this who have been impacted by Multiple Sclerosis…

May I pray for you or your friends and family members who have MS?

The MS Society gives us bandanas of MS sufferers to ride for, or we can take a blank one and ride for our friends. Last year many of you allowed me the honor of riding for you. If I may ride for you again or ride for you for the first time, please leave a comment and I will write your name on my bandana, ride in your honor and pray for you.

And, just in case you are wondering, here is my post after last year’s MS 150.

Loved your song Amy. I will pray for you and all the others that ride and walk for me and others that have MS. My mom’s best friend has MS and when I was a teenager she worked for the St. Petersburg chapter in Florida. I was a volunteer for the walks and bike rides for several years. I know they use the money wisely. I know the MS Society helps a lot of people because they have helped me. When I was diagnosed the MS progressed rapidly and the heat was a big problem for me. If I get to hot, I cant walk. The MS Society was able to give me cooling vests and other items that I would not have been able to buy while on disability and being a single mom. I may look a little funny in them but they allow me to enjoy the outdoors. If anyone can donate in Amy’s name, even if it is only $1 it will help someone like me. It will help people with MS that have no insurance and cant afford the many doctor appointments and tests you must have…not to mention the medications. My injections that I have to take are $3000 per month. That’s for 1 shot per day. There are too many people that suffer from MS and need help. I’m lucky because I have insurance, a positive attitude and I never let MS get me down. Not everyone has that attitude and they really need your support and prayers. Many people with MS become depressed and scared. If you know someone like that, please…PLEASE reach out to them.

I do believe I have taken up enough space so I will leave you now. Amy, I wish you luck and will pray for you. By the way, what got you into riding for MS?

Girl, you are too cute! :) I would love if you could add my Titi Elizabeth’s name to your bandana. She is my DH’s aunt and such a special woman. Despite her health issues due to MS, she has been a faithful and wonderful foster mother to three young children for almost four years now. We love her! Thank you for riding on her behalf, as well as all of those who have been affected by MS.
