What Bible studies and discussions do you love? Let’s add to the Toolbox!

So often I am asked, “What’s next after the Bible in 90 Days?”

And now I ask you that question.

When I finished for the first time, I struggled with what to do next. Typical small daily devotionals didn’t offer enough meat to keep up with the appetite I had built after devouring so much of the Word in one day, and I couldn’t find the right study to throw myself into, so I was stuck for quite awhile.

What I have learned is that I need to get myself right into another reading program right away as I determine what my next study will be.

The last time, I made my way through the Proverbs for a month and then the Psalms for two months before I was back into the Bible in 90 Days again.

This time I will hop right back into a Bible in a Year reading program and follow its daily reading schedule right from October 3 (which is the first day after our Day 90 of the Bible in 90 Days), SOAP’ing each day again while I pray and listen for what my next study will be.  You are, of course, invited to launch right back into the Bible in 90 Days with our group beginning January 3.

Until then, though (and also after that) I’d like to explore different Bible studies and build a Toolbox of reviews and opinions on different Bible studies enjoyed by women.

I know that so many of you have enjoyed fantastic studies in the past, as I have, too. And I would love to hear your thoughts on them and compile those thoughts for our fellow readers and searchers for the next step.

If you have written a blog post on a study you have enjoyed, please use the email button up top and send me a link. If you have enjoyed a study in the past and would like to put together your thoughts in an email that I could use as a post, please send me that in an email, as well. If you have some opinions from a study that you would like to share, email me that, as well.

I’ll get a list running and start compiling your notes, thoughts and observations, and together we will build a resource library/Toolbox so that those searching for a study can see what women before them experienced.

Please think about it, pray about it and let me know which studies you have enjoyed and which ones have impacted your life. Then please let me  know all about them. Together, we will build a great Toolbox for moms to share as we grow in Christ together..

  1. When this request for favorite Bible studies was posted, I was writing a post on what we use for Bible in our homeschool. Perhaps it could be helpful for people who have just read through the Bible for the first time. I have been incredibly blessed by the resources we’ve been using for our children, and I’ve been exposed to the Bible since I was 5!

  2. I have about 2 or 2.5 months until my baby will be born, and I’ve been unable to find a reading plan to stick with since I completed the Bible in 90 at the end of August.

I miss being so heavily in the Word, though!

There is a 60-day highlight plan featured here: http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/readingplans/survey.php

that I think I will give a shot. I like that it gives you a good overview of some key parts. Seems manageable.

I briefly tried Prof. Horner’s reading plan, but it was just too all-over-the-place for me to stick with for long. I liked the concept, though!

  3. I am going to read through the NT Chronologically using a Chronological through the Bible in a Year. The NT starts around September 24ish, but I figure I can pick up those lost days fairly easy! :-)

I am going to pair this with a study guide I have wanted to do for a while.

  4. I’ve had exact same thoughts/desire as music_ girl129 above, wanting to re-visit those books and connect them. I’m not on track with you all, having started later and finishing in Nov. But I thought that time would be a good time to focus on devotionals and study on the themes of the Christmas season.

  5. I am a leader in the junior high ministry in our church. We are starting a year long study on the character of Jesus. Our first 6 week study is a book called Beginning in Jesus which looks at Jesus as healer and reading the book of Mark. I am doing the Revised Experiencing God book with my prayer partner. This is an older study that has been updated in the last few years with more reading and fewer questions. I am looking forward to getting into it.

  6. I just started BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). It is an interdenominational and international Bible study that is outstanding. This year we are studying the book of Isaiah. I’ve wanted to study Isaiah for a long time, so I’m really excited that a thorough program like BSF is doing it.

Also, for my devotions in the morning, I’m using a guide that my pastor put together, called the DDP (Daily Devotional Plan) You read one chapter of the Bible everyday. You start by praying, then read, write any observations, pray for what God wants to say to you through that particular chapter, then ask for His help in obeying. It is so simple and He has used it greatly in my life this year.

  7. You just awesome!

I love history and I was very intrigued when reading through the history books, major prophets and minor prophets in the OT and how disjointed it seemed without having a clear foundation of what happened when because of the difference when the events occured. I’m planning to read through these sections of the Bible using my chronological Bible this time and take the time to study maps and other background from this time period.

I’m also doing the Beth Moore study on Daniel at church- I’m on week 3 and learning so much :-)

  9. I was just thinking about this the other day! :)
I have a Precept Study by Kay Arthur on the book of Revelations that my hubby and I were talking about doing together. I may just do that, but am also looking forward to checking out what is going to be on this list you are putting together.
God will lead me in the right direction, just like He led me here, to read the Bible in 90 Days! :)

  10. Sounds like a great idea! At this point, I have nothing. LOL I’ve not come up with my own real studies, except reading a Proverb chapter a day (everyone has done that!)
BUT, I look forward to getting some new ideas from those submitted!

  11. Sounds great! I am jumping back in on Monday, after yesterday’s finish, and I will also be picking up another study to do at the same time, but haven’t decided what yet. My husband is a minister, so I know we have lots to choose from around here, or he would do a study with me, if nothing appeals to me. My goal is to “Do More”!
I have a few ladies from church who are going to read with me, and a couple friends on FB as well. I look forward to what you come up with for the “off” months. I may do it with you too!
