Whom are you serving?

Scripture: Galatians 1:10

Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Observation: As a believer and follower of Christ, one should focus on following Christ rather than pleasing and winning the approval of other men and women.

Application: Whom do I serve? Fellow men and women or Christ?

By putting Christ first, and concerning myself with him, then I will be serving him. He will point me in the direction of serving those around me. But if I try to serve those around me first, and search for their approval, then I am not serving Christ.

Prayer: Lord, this one really hits home.

So often I want to please those around me. And so often that causes me to push you aside… whether that is because I cut prayer time or study time short or because I don’t have the energy to do activities you might prefer I do to the other ones I choose. Please guide me in seeking your wisdom. Remind me to approach you first and do your will. You will guide me on what to do next if I just listen. Help me to serve you, and listen to your guidance on whom to serve next. And then protect me as I follow your advice. Keep Satan out of my life. Don’t let him intervene. I only want to serve you.
