Are you going to accept His gift of His Word?

Bible in 90 Days
Are you going to open this gift and enjoy it all?

Guest post by Bible in 90 Days mentor Sara M.

Who doesn’t like gifts? Even if you prefer giving to receiving, you have to admit there is something exciting about the act of gift exchange.

Have you given much thought to the many gifts we have been so graciously given by our Heavenly Father?

In December of 2010, I came across the Bible in 90 Days program and Mom’s Toolbox. At the time, I was searching for something to jump start me out of what felt like a spiritual rut and this could not have appeared a more exciting answer to my prayers! I was overwhelmed, nervous and most of all, terribly excited!

During the next several weeks as the first day approached, I came to see God’s word as one of his most precious gifts! And so I wondered how I had been a believer in Christ for close to 20 years and never really opened it.

I have taken part in group studies and done personal studies but I had never read ever word…what was holding me back? I think it was primarily that I knew I needed a plan to follow and the only one I was familiar with was reading through in one year. I am not afraid of commitments but for some reason I never felt I could hang in there. I was so afraid I would get discouraged with more difficult portions of the Old Testament and give up so I never even tried. For me, the beauty of the Bible in 90 Days program is the short time frame as it allowed me to accomplish something I otherwise had no idea how to tackle.

I am not going to lie and tell you it was an easy journey.

There were the days in the Old Testament when I became discouraged, thinking I could not possibly be retaining anything but I was able to stick with it because I knew I could finish 12 pages! Of course, the Lord blessed my time in His word and I retained much more than I thought. It was obvious to me each time I listened to a sermon or attended a Bible Study. Before B90Days I would have been wondering about background and the like but now I follow so much better. I finally have a grasp of the big picture. It was important for me to remember this is a reading plan, not a plan for in depth study. Having finally read from cover to cover, not only gave me confidence but fueled a desire to really dig in with future studies.

Never have I been disappointed by the time I have chosen to spend in the Word. I feel confident in saying, if you stick with this commitment, not only will you not be disappointed but instead find yourself very blessed. Don’t leave one word of His precious gift unread!

Sara M. completed the Bible in 90 Days program this past March and is thrilled to be helping others do the same this summer.  As challenging as it can be to read the Bible in such a short time, she clings to the fact you will never be disappointed by choosing to spend time in our Father’s word!  She is married to the greatest man God could have given her and is blessed to be able to stay home with her two young girls. Sara blogs about life with the three of them and whatever else is on her mind at …makes my heart smile

One response to “Are you going to accept His gift of His Word?”

  1. “I feel confident in saying, if you stick with this commitment, not only will you not be disappointed but instead find yourself very blessed.” – – – and I say AMEN. God has blessed me beyond what I expected! My life has been changed both spiritually and literally.

I joined Bible in 90 days program last year – Jan2010. I read 3 times and completed reading 2 times. The time I spend reading the word of God is the time I spend seeking real treasures. And I can wholeheartedly say that our God is true to His promised that if we seek Him, we will find Him, when we seek Him with all of our heart (Jeremiah 29:13).
