Bible in 6 Months: Week 3/ Day 15: When do YOU read your Bible?

Well hello happy Bible readers!

I hope and pray that you are enjoying the reading and are getting into a good groove with your reading time.

Are you reading first thing in the morning? Last thing in the evening? On a lunch break? Do you mark the time in your schedule or just pick it up when it best works for you?

I’ve done this reading plan as well as the Bible in 90 Days plan and I’ve read using different schedules and approaches. I find that at different stages of my life different scheduling tactics worked best.

At one point I was bound and determined to read as the first thing I did every morning. I rationalized that His Word was the most critical thing and so my reading should be done before picking up my phone or doing anything else. But then I often found myself distracted and rushing through the reading. I don’t want that. I want to soak it all into my brain and soul.

Now, I start my days with a prayer book

To solve that, I now typically read a little later in the morning, once the am essentials are done and before I dive into work projects. To start my day focused on Him, though, I read the daily morning prayer from “A Diary of Private Prayer” by John Baillie each morning before reaching for my phone or doing anything else. It puts my focus in a better place to do all those other things. I like that. Then I slot my Bible reading time at a point when I can really pay attention to the content rather than just cram it all in.

When do YOU read?

I’d love to know what your approach is and I bet everyone else could benefit from your experiences, too. For this week’s check in, please let us know in the comments how and when you read. And also let us know if you are up to date, way ahead or behind. I’ll be praying for you no matter where you are. :)

Alright. Ready for this week’s reading schedule?

One response to “Bible in 6 Months: Week 3/ Day 15: When do YOU read your Bible?”

  1. I find I pay attention better to what I’m reading once morning essentials are done. But I’ve also been reading before bed lately and that’s a great way to calm my brain.
