Bible in 90 Days Week 11/ Day 71 Check-in

Today is Day 71 of the Bible in 90 Days!

By the time your head hits the pillow tonight, you should have read through Mark 9:13 to be completely up to date.

This week I had to share a little inspiration from one of our fellow readers, Shannon Dias…

Just a little bit behind but will be back on track by tomorrow. I cannot believe how much of the Bible I have read!!! It is absolutely amazing and this is such a long awaited goal that I have now almost accomplished! Praise God!!! I must say that to read the Bible from cover to cover is a life experience that is absolutely remarkable and overwhelmingly rewarding. The entire Bible and God’s Word takes on a whole new meaning when one takes the time to read through it in the order that it is written rather than by one selected book or story at a time. I cannot thank Amy enough for this extraordinary opportunity to fulfill such a life changing and blessed experience with so many wonderful people sharing the journey. And, as always, thanks to God for leading me here to fulfill this goal in which to draw me even closer to Him and His Word.

I would also like to take the time to share that I am the first in many generations within my family lineage to actually read the Bible and to do so from cover to cover. Praise God, through Him and His Word, our family lineage will never be the same again and it all starts with just one person. Through this triumph of God’s glorious generational changes and blessings, understandably, life may try to interfere and throw us many obstacles while choosing to remain faithful to God, especially after so many previous generations did not. However, I am blessed knowing that my children, and future generations that I may never meet, will be able to receive the blessings and inherit the kingdom of the Lord because they learned wholeheartedly to trust and rely upon Him and their faith instead.

To all of my fellow Bible readers: I pray that each one of you fulfill this task that we all set out to accomplish together and that we each come to know God more intimately in our every day lives through our faithfulness and patience within ourselves to press forward to read His entire Word regardless of where we are in the reading. The goal is within sight, and God and our relationship with Him, is worth every minute of our reading and faithfulness to see this through…just as God continues to always be faithful to each of us! Thanks for your prayers and I will be praying for each of you as we press forward continuing along our journey together!

Abundant Blessings!

I love receiving inspiring notes like that one from Shannon.. I hope you enjoyed it, as well.

Okay, check in time…

For those of you who are up to date (or close) how does it feel to be in the New Testament? And for those who have read the Gospels before this and are up to date, is reading them this time different?

A bit late… I have crossed over! I am a bit sad that we are coming up on the end, what an amazing experience this has been. The Bible has come alive to me in a way that I would have never expected by reading it straight through. I am already planning my next read through.
The NT is a bit harder, maybe because I am finding it more familiar (reading it with my children for their devotion right now) and therefore tempted to skip some of it… yet when I truly read every word there is always something new and amazing that I uncover. God is so good!

  2. Oops, missed the check in yesterday. I’m about 7 days behind, but that’s less than yesterday! So I’m still working on it. And still counting on God to help me find a way to finish on time!! Here we go…

  3. Couldn’t leave a post yesterday, our internet was down and my husband was out of town so I had no clue how to deal with the router or whatever else might have caused the problem. Anyway……I’m sooooooo far behind, it’s ridiculous. 14 days to be exact. I’m still plugging away and I’m still learning, though. We’re off to Aruba for two weeks, and I’ll have my Bible with me. Hopefully, I’ll be completely caught up upon our return.

  4. I missed the check in! BUT, I did blog! Hee, hee!

  5. WOW! What an experience so far. I am still behind but reading more and more getting closer to the end every day! I am learning so much and really getting a lot from God’s word! I can’t wait to learn more!

  6. I had a two hour nap last night before bedtime and it threw me totally off. I forgot all about checking in. I am pleased to report, however, that I have been managing to stay slightly ahead in the reading. I still can’t believe I’ve read the whole Old Testament in so short a time and now I’m skipping through the New, and it’s opened up so many things that I didn’t see the other times I read the Bible through. I am loving doing the 90 days challenge and will definitely do it again. I even have some friends wanting to try it.

  7. Was behind a lot last week. Then got a really bad chest cold. Was home doing nothing for three days. Got caught up. Guess that’s good. Surprised by how familiar I am with the Gospels so far. But enjoying seeing the connections so clearly to the OT.

Couldn’t get online yesterday. As of Monday I was a day behind but now (Tuesday noon) I am half way through today’s reading and plan to finish it a little at a time as I go through the afternoon and evening. I was excited to get to the NT. I find that I am tempted to keep stopping to look up a cross reference or to think about a question that was triggered by what I just read. I am also challenged to decide what verses to highlight as I am tempted to bleed yellow highlighter all over the page (but that defeats the purpose) as every other verse seems to jump out as “important” to me. I am loving this challenge, and trying to figure out the best way to get the reading into my day, now that the kids have started back to school this week and the daily schedule is changing for the family.

  9. I finally caught back up this week and am right on schedule! I’m finding the New Testament has a lot more meaning now that I’ve read ALL of the history from the Old Testament!

  10. Ahead of schedule!! Loving reading the New Testament as it is easier and much more familiar.

    Abundant Blessings to All!!!!

  11. all up to date.

  12. Hi Amy! Just checking in to say I’m still reading. I’m finishing up Matthew and starting Mark. I’m extremely thankful for the check-ins and chats on twitter–thanks for hosting!

  13. Well, we finally got our household goods, but I am SOOO behind in my reading since we’ve been unpacking and organizing. I’m still in Hosea. I’m so tired that I can’t wake up early (before kids) or read before bed! Hopefully I can catch up on everything this week.

  14. I am caught up! Very excited to be on the home stretch…especially in the New Testament. Reading all the Old Testament prophesies made me really yearn for the Lord to return again!!

  15. I am really excited to be in the new testament. When I look where my bookmark is in my closed Bible, I am just amazed that weve read so much. I can’t wait to finish and go back and study some things more closely.

  16. Set to finish in 90 days. I’m very distracted lately, but I’m determined to finish on time. I’m hoping for more focus soon, because Bible Study Fellowship is starting this week, so I will have more reading to do. It’s a great “problem” to have.

  17. Finished Matthew!

  18. I’m not quite caught up, but more than I was earlier this week! The end is in sight and I’m inspired to finish strong!

Can’t wait to hear the details on the next session!!

Just a couple of chapers behind…will catch up tonight or tomorrow. We just started on Sunday night sermon series on Zephaniah- how interesting that will be!

  20. On track for todays check-in. Really enjoying the change of pace that came with the NT.

  21. I’m two days behind (again). I should get caught up in a couple of days and plan of staying caught up:) I have enjoyed my reading and I’m glad I decided to do this. There have been times when it has been hard to get the reading done, but I’m glad I’ve stuck with it.

I am on track with the reading. Being in the New Testament is very different form the old. Also, I never realized how often Jesus said, “You of little faith.” or “How long to I have to contend with you.” or “You hypocrites.” His words were forceful, direct and you knew exactly where He stood on an issue. Why do we tiptoe around people so much? Are we compromising our witness when we do?

  23. I’m on Day 68, so a little behind but I’ve read 4 days in the past 2 so I am gaining some ground. Plus I am very excited to hit the NT tomorrow. I’ve read it a lot before (not all or straight through) and I’m excited to see it again now that I’ve read the OT.

  24. Yeah for the NT!! I’m enjoying reading the more familiar and yet I love that we just finished the prophets and I recognize the prophets that Jesus quotes.

I’m finally caught up on check-in day. I’m very excited for that and hopefully I can stay on-pace all week.

Hope you have a great week!!

  25. I am behind so much prayer will be appreciated. I refuse to give up! Thank you

Sorry I wasn’t able to make the tweet-up tonight. We’re out of town again! I’m only one day behind; hoping to catch up on the car ride home tomorrow. I’m thrilled to have completed the entire Old Testament for the first time! Woo-hoo!

  27. I am just about caught up on my reading. I will finish Matthew today and I might even be able to start Mark, but I have to prepare for my Bible study for tomorrow first!

I can’t tell you how helpful it is to have to check in every week. Last night I was farther behind then I’ve been in a while, but I knew check in was today so I just read and read and read. It’s nice to be in the New Testament now! I feel like it will just fly by!

  28. I am still behind and so is my husband. But we will keep trying. As I read the pages of the Bible, I am amazed and reminded of God’s love, grace and mercy. Please keep my husband and me in your prayers. He has been working in another city for the past 14 months. But for me and our daughter to join him, our house needs to sell. Please pray that we will see God at work in this process and that we will follow His will. Thanks so much.

Amy, thank you so much for leading us through this journey. I will be praying for you. And I hope you enjoyed your class reunion.

  29. I am behind in my reading. :( But I am working on getting caught up. I WILL finish on time!

I have to say, I do feel better after reading the comments. I don’t feel so alone, and I now feel encouraged and inspired to keep working to catch up and finish on time.

  30. On track! I was a day behind, but Daniel and the New Testament helped me to catch up. :)
