He doesn’t need me. It is all Him. Acts 14

Today’s reading is Acts 14. Using the SOAP devotional format, this is what stood out to me:

Scripture: Acts 14: 15

“Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.

Observation:

We did not do these things. It was God working through us. Stop worshipping worthless idols and worship the true God.

Application:

When big things are accomplished for His kingdom through my efforts, I need to remember that those actions, and not just encouragement to do those actions, come from Him, too. He is to receive all the glory and praise for the good works.

And, likewise, I need to remember that He does not need me. The kingdom does not hinge on my actions.

Yes, I should listen and follow where He leads. And I should take action when I know He is calling me to do that. But if I need to take a break and rest, He knows what needs to happen and those things will still occur.

Prayer:

Lord, sometimes I can be so arrogant and think that you need me to help people read the Bible in 90 Days or that you need me to post my SOAP devotionals daily to help others read and learn about you.

In truth, you encourage me to do those things and those actions do encourage others and lead some to know you better. But it’s not all up to me. So, on those days I am wracked with guilt about posting, I need to just talk to you about it and be comfortable with what I hear there, not what I think my readers want.

You are my guide. And you bring those to me whom you want me to connect with and those whom you want to touch through my words and actions. And they will come as you call them, whether I take a day or three or more off from posting.

Thank you, Lord for using me. Thank you for meeting with me each time I read your Word. And thank you for letting me be a close witness to all I have seen you do with MomsToolbox. It has been awesome and I can only wonder what you will do with it in the coming years.

I love you God. Thank you for the so many privileges you have shared with me.
