Yes, even the Gentiles. Acts 11

I hope you are enjoying reading Acts with me. Today our reading is Acts 11.

Here is what stood out to me:

Scripture: Acts 11: 18

When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God saying, “So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.”

Observation:

After hearing Peter’s explanation of his vision and then actions, the other disciples were amazed and knew they could not object. They were amazed, though, in realizing that God’s love encompassed even the Gentiles.

Application:

We are all God’s children, even those people we don’t like, don’t trust and don’t want to have around us. He loves us all. And all have the possibility of forgiveness and eternal life with our Father.

I don’t think this means we need to go hang out with people we regard as bad or evil, but I think it does mean that we need to realize that they are loved, even if their choices and actions are not. And, as we saw in Acts 9, anyone can be changed and can see God’s love, as God chooses to reveal Himself.

Prayer:

Lord, please guide me in removing prejudice from my heart where it lingers. Help me to more actively pray for those I fear, both near and far.

  1. This is a very good word for me today, as we are having some troubles with a certain person right now. This person has come in with a sword of division to divide the family, but we are so trying to forgive and let the Lord handle it.

  2. Love this thought. It’s so easy to pass judgements on others and yet…we’re supposed to be carrying His light inside us. Wonder how many people have been unable to see Him…because of me? {bleh}…thanks for this.
