Headed to my first Wine Bloggers Conference

WBC Participant

My brother-in-law Steve and I are about to be swirling, swishing and spitting with wine bloggers of all kinds… brilliant ones, witty ones, intricate palate ones, verbose ones and maybe to-the-point ones at the 4th North American Wine Bloggers Conference in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Yep, there’s even a conference for that and we get to go.

With VineSleuth Uncorked just a few weeks old, I bet we’ll have the youngest wine blog of any represented there. We’ll be there with more than 300 other wine bloggers in addition to a pretty spectacular list of wineries and I cannot think of a better place to get started and learn, learn, learn.

There will be two sessions of live blogging speed-dating-style tastings,  key note addresses from Jancis Robinson, editor of the Oxford Companion of Wine and wine writer for the Financial Times, and Eric Asimov of the New York Times, breakout sessions on technology and wine reporting, tasting, Virginia winery visits, a wine blog awards dinner and more. It’s going to be one action-packed weekend!

I’ll admit I’m both excited and a little nervous to be surrounded by all those wine bloggers and industry professionals.  From my experiences at MomsToolbox and MomsTravelTales, I know a bit about blogging, but blogging about wine is new to me. This is my chance to really learn… when else will I be around so much knowledge and have a better chance to ask questions and take it all in (and taste so much wine at once)?

Since VineSleuth Uncorked is my way to share my adventure in learning about wine so we can all learn together, I want to extend this opportunity to represent YOU at the Wine Bloggers Conference.

I hope to gather as much information this weekend as I possibly can so that I can share it with you in future posts.

What questions would you ask winery representatives, wine experts and big deal wine bloggers if given the chance? What do you want to know about tasting, storing, serving or anything else wine-related?

Please Tweet me, Facebook me, email me or leave your questions in the comments and I’ll get to work for you.

And to those veteran Wine Bloggers Conference attendees who may be reading, can you help a girl out?  What tips do you have for a first-time attender?
