Journaling through the Bible in 90 days: Day 10

BRRRRRRRRR! It’s sure cold in the suburbs of Houston where I live!!

I sure hope you are somewhere staying warm. I’m 100% thankful I have heat and cozy blankets and I’m not living in a tent as the people we are reading about were doing. However…. to get to see the cloud with God and hear his voice WOULD be PRETTY SPECTACULAR. So there’s that.

Stay warm, my friends!

Alright. On to the reading for today.

Today’s Reading: Leviticus 26:27- Numbers 8:14

Here’s what I heard:

Scripture: Numbers 4:49

At the Lord’s command through Moses, each was assigned his work and what to carry. Thus they were counted, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Observation:

God gave Moses clear instructions as to what to do- both here in counting and who to count and throughout this reading and others in many other areas.

Application:

I crave clear instruction.

I don’t want to be misled by false instruction and so I often wonder: How can I get clear instruction? I don’t want to make mistakes. I want to know exactly what is needed so I know what to do.

But hang on a sec. At deeper thought, though, I can’t miss that, even with clear instruction in many places, there were plenty of mistakes, mishaps and rebellion by those who heard the instruction.

I’d like to think that clear instruction is the answer. But is it?

Prayer:

Father,

I started this time with you asking for clear, undeniable instruction from You, believing that is the answer to Godly success (eternal success? true success?). But then it was revealed to me that even clear instruction isn’t a guarantee. There is a lot more to it than that and even with clear instructions, things can go off the rails.

Hmmm. Another nod to the need for a savior?

Perhaps that is your clear instruction.

Thanks for your love. Thanks for your patience. Thanks for your instruction.

In Jesus name,

Amen
