New Testament in 40 Days: Week 4

So…. how’s your reading going?

I have to say that I LOVE this pace at which we are reading. I feel like it gives me time to think about what I am reading and let it soak in while it still keeps us moving. So I can dig in deeper, I also journal a bit after I read. I have found a journaling method for my reading that I’ve really enjoyed.

Journaling about the reading

Each day I read with a pen in hand, ready to mark or date anything that grabs me. Then, once I finish the day’s reading, I go back and look through the pages and think about what the Holy Spirit might be trying to tell me that morning or what I need to really internalize.

After that, I use the notes page in my planner to write down the main scripture or message that stood out to me and use the SOAP method to ponder it further. (I use the Full Focus Planner. It has one page for notes next to the calendar/ to do page for each day.) I don’t know if anyone else does this… I like having my Bible journaling right in my planner so I can document what I am hearing right alongside my to dos and see His direction right there.

I’d love to know if any of you journal as you read or after you read… or if you’ve found another way to dig deeper or make the reading stick.

Of course the most important part is to do the reading, so please don’t feel obligated to journal if it isn’t right for you right now. Just read and soak it in.

And on that note…

However you read, I hope you are enjoying every word and hearing Him as He talks with you.

In Love,
