Prayer for the Praying Wives

Tonight I am hosting the second meeting of our Power of a Praying Wife study group. We will discuss the book through chapter two, His Work.

As I was studying this morning, I began to pray for our group, and any others who might also be meeting in person, as well as our virtual group through MomsToolbox.

Here’s my prayer for all of us:

Heavenly Father, maker of heaven and earth and each of us, thank you for also creating marriage. I am so thankful to have a teammate you handpicked for me.

Lord, please be with all of us who yearn to strengthen our marriages and our husbands as we prepare to meet as a group this evening.

Please prepare our hearts for honest conversation which will be honoring to you and to our husbands. Please place on our minds what we need to share and what we need to hear. Clear gossip from our hearts and our conversation and instead let us focus on the things you would have us focus on.

Prepare us to listen… to you and to the women you are bringing together.

Guide us as we prepare our homes for our meeting tonight. Help all of us to get done what needs to be done today so we can leave our families and not worry about what is happening in our absence. And guide me to make dinner preparations and host preparations and then let go of what isn’t done and just enjoy the time with my guests. Don’t let me fret about the mess. Instead let me focus on the things on which you would have me focus.

Keep Satan away from our meetings and conversations and let you alone shine.

Please guide us in seeing your hand on our conversations tonight and also in the coming weeks as we work through this study.

Please, Lord, guide those women working through this book who are not meeting with us in person, those who cannot make tonight’s meeting and those who are studying with us virtually through the internet. Thank you for our bond through you. Guide us also in sharing what you want us to share with each other.

Thank you, Lord, for this opportunity to grow. Thank you for Stormie Omartian, whom you have used to share your words with us in a new light.

Guide us in being honoring to you.

In your son’s blessed name, Amen.

Through September, I am studying  The Power of a Praying Wife. If you would like to join in the reading, the schedule I am using is here.
