Psalms SOAP: He forgives… I should, too

Day 53 of the Psalms in 60 Days

Today’s Reading: Psalms 130-134

Scripture: Psalm 3-4

3If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins,

O Lord, who could stand?

4But with you there is forgiveness;

therefore you are feared.

Observation: We would all be in big trouble if the Lord kept a record of all our sins. Fortunately He forgives us.

Application: It amazes me that the Lord is willing to forgive us all for all our sins. At times I think that mine aren’t that bad in comparison to what they could be, yet that doesn’t matter. Sin is sin.

At other times I realize that I can’t even forgive myself for some of the things I have done. I wish I could go back and make other choices. But I cannot.

I need to look at my life more in the way that the Lord does and forgive myself and move forward and stop re-thinking my mistakes.

Sure, I should recognize my errors and think about how to prevent myself from doing them again. And I should ask for forgiveness. But then I need to move on.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your forgiveness. It amazs me that you are big enough and strong enough to forgive all sins. I would love to be more like you in forgiving others more, as well as myself. Please guide me in that.

Please forgive me for holding on to things and teach me to let them go, reassigning my efforts, heart and thoughts to serving you, not dwelling on mistakes, mine or others.

  1. It leaves me speechless in gratitude at the fact that God casts my sins into the sea of forgetfulness and remembers them no more…as far as the east is from the west…(can you tell verses like this bring me comfort?)
