Psalms SOAP: I don’t want to build in vain!

Today’s Reading: Psalms 125-129

Scripture: Psalm 127:1

Unless the Lord builds the house,

its buildier build in vain.

Observation: Unless you are following God’s plan, your work will not bear true fruit.

Application: I want to do so much and often I feel as though I am overwhelmed and working so hard yet getting nothing done.

What am I doing or building that is not in God’s will for me? Where am I building without Him?

Sometimes it is hard for me to tell what I should be doing and what I should let go. I want to accomplish so much. (And by accomplish, I very much include meal prep and all those mom jobs.) But I must be taking on more than I should or else it would be easier or at least more focused. What am I building in vain? What can I let go?

Prayer: Lord, I feel way too overwhelmned way too much of the time.

Show me not only what to cut back on but how to cut back on those efforts, as well.

I want to build only what you havein mind for me. I want to follow your plan.

Please, Lord, guide me in that. I desperately need your guidance.

  1. I loved your prayer this morning. “I want to follow your plan” really hit home for me. As I struggle with infertility issues I find my self consumed daily on the struggles to become a mother. I know in my heart I need to let go and let the Lord lead me. There is just something in side me that just doesn’t want to loose “control”. Today I am praying that the Lord shows me how to let go of what I’m struggling and guide my heart towards his plan for me.

I hope you have a wonderful day today. God Bless

  2. I’ve been feeling like a dog chasing it’s own tail lately–lots of activity, but nothing really accomplished. Thanks for sharing this.
