A quick trip to Napa and TV appearance in Houston were just a part of my week…

What a week!

Monday I found out, while waiting to have an MRI done on  my knee, that it would be wise to attend the Wine Market Council’s annual meeting in Napa which was Friday.

I logged onto United, checked for award flights, booked the trip and asked my rock star assistant, Brittany, to reserve a spot for me at the meeting and also book a hotel… I was flying to California in 3 days. She was on it and, just about an hour after my MRI was complete, all was booked.

But I still had the week ahead of me.

I had a dentist appointment, eye appointment, Girl Scout field trip, Houston Sommelier Association meeting, haircut to prep for a live TV segment this coming Sunday and the Science Fair to contend with before my trip. On Wednesday afternoon, during the Girl Scout field trip, I learned that I would need surgery to repair my knee and so booked an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon while the girls learned about fire safety. Never a dull moment!

Ah, and did I mention that Wine4.Me’s website was being completely revamped this week, also in preparation for my television appearance this Sunday? Yeah, that was going on, too.

I can’t say that I ever expected life to be like this… it’s pretty crazy hectic, but it’s also pretty exciting in that regard, too. Fortunately I have a super supportive husband who is absolutely up for making whatever needs to happen happen for Wine4.Me’s success, as well as the success of our family. (As I type this from an airplane in San Francisco, he has already taken our boys for haircuts this morning, taken one of our son’s to a birthday party and I believe has booked a spot for he and our daughter at a father-daughter dance at church. See—he’s amazing.)

So how did those meetings in Napa go?

Well, the Wine Market Council meeting revealed lots of great data both from the council and Nielsen that points toward the relevance of Wine4.Me and other projects being pursued by VineSleuth, which is, of course, exciting. I also got to visit with some of my favorite people in the wine industry in California, meet with the President of the Wine Market Council and was able to spend time with a dear friend from college.

It was another whirlwind trip with lots of positive moments.

Now, I’ve boarded a flight back home. I’m debating between using my flight time to read a book or sleep. I have a feeling sleep might win this one.

I’ll be on live TV tomorrow in Houston

As I mentioned, tomorrow morning (Sunday) I’ll be on TV. So if you are in Houston, I’d love for you to tune into KPRC-TV Channel 2 between 8:30- 9 am. At some point in there I’ll be talking about wines for Valentines’s Day and also helping you decipher the words used to explain sweetness levels in sparking wine, so you can find the right one to toast your honey.

I’d love to know what you think of the segment. So, after watching, please drop me a note either in the comments or on Facebook  and let me know if I shared anything that will help you. Feel free to ask any wine questions, too, so I’ll know what you want to know about it in the future.

Thanks for joining me on this crazy ride!

‘See’ you tomorrow!
