Week 14 of Bible 180– So many ways to pray!

Hello and welcome to Week 14 of Bible 180. We are more than halfway through this session of reading the Bible cover to cover together. How exciting is that?

We are more than knee deep in the Psalms, and this week we will cross over into not only Proverbs but also Ecclesiastes. Whew!

One of the things I love about the Psalms is how we come across the longings and deep feelings of those that are writing. We see joy, we see deep sorrow, and in both we see a strong reliance on the Lord. I love how the Holy Spirit shows us how to cry out to our Father in all sorts of situations… and that it is okay to be true to our feelings. The only mistake, it seems, is not leaning on Him.

My pen was busy writing down prayers to emulate. I wrote them in my journal, in my day planner and on index cards now posted in front of me at my desk.

“Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth;

give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;

I will glorify your name forever

For great is your love toward me;

you have delivered me from the depth of the grave.

–Psalm 86: 11-13

Isn’t that just so beautiful?

I pray that the words you read every day, His words, are reaching you deeply, that you hear Him as you read, and that the words echo in your heart after you read.

I know they are for me.

Check in, please

I’d love to hear how you feel, knowing we are more than halfway through Bible 180 together. Are you energized to keep going? Are you in the groove of a regular read time? Or are you struggling? Please let me know in the comments.

    I love that you are leading us in to the promised land! or so to speak promised land! RTB 180! I love developing this habit of reading HIS word and relying on the promises in it. I’m behind in the reading but will most likely catch up this week, I’m almost up with the schedule.
    One of my favorite verses was Psalms 61
    Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
    Then 103 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children. What a legacy!
    Have a blessed day!

  4. Thank you Amy for your thoughts. I always look forward to your reflection on the week’s readings. I feel like you do about the Psalms. The writers share from their hearts what is on their minds and and we realize that we have many of the same longings and concerns. I have always loved Psalm 91. It is especially pertains to us now with all unrest and division in our country. We can all rest secure dwelling in the shelter of our Most High God! It gives me peace saying, “My refuge and fortress, my God in who I trust.” I love vs. 11 where it says, “For he commands his angels with regard to you, to guard you wherever you go.” So glad to be on this journey through the Bible with all of you!

    1. Thank YOU, Milly!

      And AMEN to all of the reassurance we find in the Psalms through this unrest. YES, HE is our refuge. :))
