Week 13 of Bible 180

Hello there, sweet Bible-reading friends and happy week 13 to you!!

Wow! Today we embark on 13 weeks of reading the Bible together. I am so glad that we are doing this together. Thank you so much for joining me.

If you are on schedule with me, last week we wrapped up Job and then we jumped right into the Psalms. My journaling pen was rather busy last week, writing down nuggets that spoke directly to me, pulling wisdom and recording it in my journal.

I have had lots of questions with my business and so have been seeking His guidance there and also in parenting. Hearing His wisdom over and over was soothing, nourishing and exciting to me.

I wrote Psalm 52: 8-9 on an index card and posted it to read several times throughout the day. I love the image of a flourishing olive tree, reliant on God and recognizing His abundant provision and grace.

Here it is:

But I am like and olive tree flourishing in the house of God;

I trust in God’s unfailing love forever and ever.

I will praise you forever for what you have done.

In your name I will hope, for your name is good.

I will praise you in the presence of your saints.

–Psalm 52:8-9

In this time of “manifesting” all around us, what better thing to declare than truth. I found this excerpt from the Psalms to be a beautiful verse to keep me focused on the true source of all blessings, of all wisdom. I read it every time I sit down at my desk. It helps me to keep my priorities straight, reminding me of Him and the beauty and true strength that comes from reliance on Him.

I do hope and pray that you are hearing Him speak wisdom to you as you are reading, too.

If there are any passages that especially called out to you this past week, I’d love to hear about them.

Like I said, my pen was BUSY recording verse after verse every single day. The Psalms are rich in wisdom. I loved coming to hear His wisdom and truth, day after day… especially after being bombarded with so much that is not true from all sides all day every day. There is a lot of mud-slinging out there. My time in the Word has been girding me and bringing me back to focus. I hope it has been the same for you.

Check in, please!

How is reading coming for you? Where are you in the reading?

Are you also finding comfort and redirection as you read?

Please let me know your thoughts on that… and anything else that you want to share… in the comments. I love reading your words each week. :)

In love,

  1. As with you and Teresa I found so many “nuggets” of truth and wisdom as well this week. Reading the Psalms reminds me of the importance of fully trusting and relying on God. Psalms 25 and 51 stood out to me reminding me to always come before God with a humble and contrite heart asking forgiveness for anyway I may have sinned. The theme throughout is humbling ourselves, then completely relying, trusting and praising Him in all things! I am really enjoying this journey through the Psalms!

Hi Amy and Bible reading ladies! I have been a bit behind here and there but have been able to stay up on the reading. My journal is quickly filling up with truths that I want to hide in my heart.
I loved what you shared Amy about there being SO many nuggets of truth and wisdom in the Psalms, such a balm for my heart as I read each day. I love how God speaks to us through His Word!! So many times I am blown away by how these words penned so long ago are applicable to every area of my life and heart and what’s going on all around us. I really love Psalm 37. It’s such a good reminder to me of what God needs me to do and the blessing of being obedient. Trusting in the Lord and doing good, delighting myself in the Lord, committing my way unto Him, trusting more, resting in Him, waiting patiently for Him, and not worrying about how wickedness seems to be running rampant. God tells me to wait upon Him, He will repay the evil, and those who trust Him shall inherit the earth. So comforting to me!!! Praying for all of us to continue our daily digging in to the Word, whether on track or not, so we can be refreshed and encouraged by His truth and share these truths with whomever God places in our path. Have a blessed week y’all!!
