Week 25 of Bible 180: In the Homestretch!!

Good morning, sweet readers!

I do pray that last week’s reading brought you solace and joy as we wrapped up Acts and read through Romans, 1 Corinthians, and jumped into 2 Corinthians. Paul and Luke sure had stories to tell and wisdom to share!

One of my favorite prayers was one we read this week:

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
--Romans 15:13

I just looooove that one!

It pretty much sums up so much of what we have been reading and what I strive for. I want to be overflowing hope in joy and peace… and I want those to come from TRUTH, from the Holy Spirit. I pray this for my children, my husband, for me and for you, too. I see this as a picture of contentment and joy… built on truth.

I believe people can be content and have joy that is based on lies, but that when that is the case, it is fleeting.

When we base joy and contentment on truth, it can withstand trouble. It can withstand challenge. Sure, there will be moments (and perhaps seasons) that are NOT joy-filled, but looking to the truth can center us back where we need to be: filled with all joy and peace that comes from trusting in HIM.

This, from yesterday’s reading also got me:

"Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace."
2 Corinthians 1:12

Such beauty. Such truth. Act in holiness. Act with sincerity. Act as HE instructs: in peace, in love, and in receiving and sharing grace.

Sweet friends, thank you for joining me in reading His Word daily. Thank you for making it a priority to hear from Him. I am so thankful that you are with me.

  1. A couple of scriptures stood out to me as well especially in light of all that is going on in our country. Praying for peace, and unity to prevail. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 15:5-6
Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong. Your every act should be done with love. 1 Cor 16:13-14
