B90 Days Week One Check in

Wooo-Hooo! Here we are on Day One of the Summer 2010 Blogging Through the Bible in 90 Days/Bible in 90 Days session!

Today you should read pages 1-12 of The Bible in 90 Days Bible or Genesis 1:1- Genesis 16:16.

Here is a link to my SOAP observation from Day 1 earlier in the year.

I am so excited that you have decided to join approximately 425 others to read the entire Bible together with the MomsToolbox community and pray for and encourage each other in the process.

The Bible in 90 Days program is a ministry hosted in churches and communities all across the country. I was thrilled when Ted Cooper, the ministry’s founder (who facilitated the group I participated in to complete the Bible in 90 Days the first time),  allowed me to host a community on MomsToolbox in January. I have been amazed at how this online community has grown.

I base our program on the Bible in 90 Days’ Ministry program, with a few changes to accommodate our different needs.

As part of our program I require that you check in here on MomsToolbox within the weekly check in post every Monday between midnight CST and 2 a.m. CST Tuesday. The comments and link will close at 2 a.m. (or when I wake up Tuesday morning) in order to help you stick with the deadline.

(I know that may sound strict, but please trust me. This is our accountability tool and I need for you to honor it, even when you have to admit that you are behind. Just check in and move on. The we’ll all be praying even more so for you.)

Since we haven’t had much to read just yet, today I ask that you check in either by letting us know if you are up to date in the reading or share a few sentences about yourself and why you decided to join us. You may check in by leaving a comment on this post or using the Linky to link to a post on your own blog. If you do link a blog post, you must also link from your post back to this check-in post so your readers can learn more about the challenge (and potentially join us!!)

Then, make plans to join us for our first Twitter party tonight from 8-9 CST. Be sure to follow the #B90Days hashtag. For more on Twitter, please read this post.

(To leave a comment, click on the text that says the number of comments so far. That will open the comments to be read. Then scroll down and leave yours at the end.)

So…how’s it coming so far?

I finished today’s reading and I already feel so enlightened and blessed. I have already acquired so much knowledge just in this first day. I am excited to continue reading and developing my relationship with God.

  3. I just started a blog today and reading. I am a few chapters behind, but almost through day 1. Thank you for putting this site together. God bless!

I hope to read today’s reading when I go to bed. I participated in the challenge earlier in the year and I received so much out of it that I wanted to do it again. Also my husband told me yesterday that he wanted to do the read the Bible with me this time. I am a wife to a wonderful husband and have three adult children, one of which is special needs. We also have three wonderful grandchildren. And I provide daily childcare to two of them. But I am looking forward to what God will show me as I read His word.

Finished Day 1 – It went pretty fast, even with my kids interrupting me! :-)

  6. I’ve read my first day! Hoping to continue on tonight into day 2. :)

  7. I haven’t been blogging much for the last month and it doesn’t look like I’m going to be at it much with my goal of getting through the Bible in 90 days.

I’m in a very busy and stressful season – VBS, moving back into our home after remodeling and a vacation all this week. I’m hoping to start posting a weekly update on my reading starting next Sunday 7/11.

God bless you all. We can do this!

Faithfully finished with today’s reading and then some! I am so committed to seeing this through and to finally reading the Bible all the way through – cover to cover. I am so hungry for God’s Word at this point in my life that I am not only committed to do this, but I am also wholeheartedly excited to draw closer to God as I spend time in His Word expectantly receiving His divine knowledge and instruction in which to apply to my life and to share with others as well. Wishing everyone the best in their reading and also a prayerful reminder to stay in faith as we progress through this very special life changing spiritual journey together. God Bless!

I cheated and started on the first, but I am only on day 2 with the weekend, I am motivated to keep up and learn more about our Lord. I have 5 boys, so it is a bit of a challenge. But I am doing 3 meals and a snack philosophy. Which means 3 times daily and then 1 extra whenever, not at a meal time. That is about 3 pages per time. It is kind of like Daniel praying 3 times a day – what a man of God! :) Blessings Ladies

I am half way through with today’s reading. I am doing it piece by piece when the kids are settled and I can get quiet time. I am writing down questions as I go, but this time I just want to read.

  13. Completed the reading for today!

I finished my day 1 reading. I know that I will need to start getting up earlier if I want to get to this first thing in the morning. I have 3 daughters and they woke up before I got very far into my reading. I was interupted many times but I did finish and am excited to start tomorrow’s reading.

I’ve never read through the whole Bible but have always wanted to. I’ve tried on my own multiple times, but always end up going back to my old way of jumping all around in the Word. Thought this would be the perfect way to have accountability and encouragement that I am not alone. Thanks SO much for being there for us !! :-) I did all of the first reading for today. I am psyched !!

Hi I’m Libby and I joined because I needed the accountability during the summer months. I was signed up for a summer Bible Study and then it was canceled. The Lord kept bringing the Scripture to mind-“let the word of Christ dwell in you richly!

  18. I actually just signed up a little while ago, so I’m about to start the day’s reading. I read the Bible in 90 Days on my own between January and April this year, but I’m looking forward to doing this again with a group!

So excited to be starting with a group of enthusiastic women! I tried reading through it in 90 days more on my own earlier this year and fell behind after the birth of our youngest child in March. I want to push through this time!

  26. I read the reading plan for today. Hope I am checking in right.

I have decided to do this journey because I have tried many times before to read the Bible in 90 days and have hardly made it through Genesis. Thank you so much for doing this!! I will be reading my part tonight!

  30. The Hubby and I started reading today! But I still need to finish my reading tonight. We bought a house today, Lord willing, so I am not going to get to blog about the start of B90x (that is what we call it, because we do the workout called P90x). But we are on schedule and excited how the Lord is going to use this reading during this HUGE time in our lives–a new house and our 4th baby! Thanks again!

This is definitely going to be a challenge but day one is done! I am going to have to read periodically throughout the day instead of all in one sitting.

I have to admit, I am a little daunted by this task. I didn’t find out about the one earlier in the year in time to do it then, but I was very excited about it. I’m just afraid of failing. But that is something that God has been working on — my inclination to never start something, because I’m afraid I will fail or will not be able to complete it.

I was very thankful for the reminder in yesterday’s post that we are READING the Bible attentively, but not necessarily STUDYING it in depth during this process. I tend to get bogged down, wanting to research and study every question or thought that comes up, and I think that is, at least in part, why the one-year Bible reading plans have not worked well for me.

So, I’m really excited to see what God will do over these next three months. Does anyone else feel the same sense of anticipation and expectation that I do?

I made it through the first 7 chapters, so will try to get caught up. A little about me. I’ve been married 24yrs and am a homeschool mom of 10 ages 23yrs down to 22months. I struggle daily with chronic illness and the frustrations that go with that along with a large family. Lately I think I’m having a mid-life crisis (can women have those?); questioning what I’ve accomplished, where I’m headed, why am I doing this – those types of things.

  38. I started today and I am so happy that I came across your blog with the opportunity to do this. One of my goals for this year has been to read the Bible from cover to cover and I am so excited to be a part of this.
I love the Lord and pray that this will draw me even cloer to Him as I seek His face.

I was so excited when today finally came. I eagerly looked forward to doing my reading.
I was not disappointed. I can not wait until tomorrow.
I am doing another Bible study at this same time, and it is nice to have 2 different things that keep me in the Word longer each day.
The only thing I am concerned about is this: What if like yesterday, I get a migraine? I was lucky and yesterday’s only lasted the one day. But I spent most of the day in bed with the lights out. How do you go about get caught up when you miss a day?

  42. I just completed day one. It went a lot faster than I was expecting. :-)

I completed the first day+. I have a family reunion (no husband, two kids, at a camp ground) later this week, so I’m trying to get ahead:)

  44. I completed the first day. I was interrupted many times by my girls but I will have to find a way around this. Onward I go.

  45. I learned about this reading plan through my cousin, who is going to be doing it also. I have read parts of the bible while doing bible studies, but never read through the whole bible. After learning about the plan, I prayed about it and believe God is calling me to do this now. It’s exciting to know that in just 90 days, I will have read the entire bible! God Bless…

  46. I linked up my blog above with a post for today! Can’t wait for the Tweet chat tonight.

Started today! So excited to see what God’s gonna do through me. I’ve always wanted to read the Bible all the way through, but a year seems like a long time. I’m a fast reader, so hoping this will go better for me. I’m definitely going to make it a priority!

  48. I’m just now stumbling upon this challenge. I’ve never read the Bible all the way through. I just don’t know how I’m going to do it since I am having a baby in 3 weeks!!! But, I will definitely try to keep up!

    Thanks!
