Bible in 90 Days Spring 2011: Our first check in!

Oh my goodness, here we are on Day One of the Spring 2011 Blogging Through the Bible in 90 Days/Bible in 90 Days session and I am thrilled that you are here with us, jumping into the ENTIRE Bible together!!

Each Monday I will post a link to the week’s reading assignments and a week’s worth of SOAP Daily Devotionals from my reading.  I will also ask you to check in each Monday by finding your group number, clicking on it and following it to another page where you can share with your group how your reading is coming. I will also try to share other readers’ experiences in reading the Bible in 90 Days to keep you encouraged and help you stick to the schedule.

My two requirements for participation are that you:

  • do the reading yourself

and that you

  • check in by leaving a comment in the right spot here on MomsToolbox each Monday.

I also have a host of other tools to help with your Bible in 90 Days reading. If you haven’t read about them, I strongly encourage you to follow that  link and check them out… I want you to succeed!!

The Bible in 90 Days program is a ministry hosted in churches and communities all across the country. I was thrilled when Ted Cooper, the ministry’s founder (who facilitated the group I participated in to complete the Bible in 90 Days the first time),  allowed me to host a community on MomsToolbox last January. I have been amazed at how this online community has grown.

I based our program on the Bible in 90 Days’ Ministry program, with a few changes to accommodate our different needs, since we won’t be meeting face to face.

As part of our program I require that you check in here on MomsToolbox by leaving a comment with your group in the weekly check in post every Monday. If you miss two check ins and do not contact your mentor, you may be dropped from the program. I do not require that you are up to date with each check-in, just that you do check in and let us know if you are up to date or not.

(I know that may sound strict, but please trust me. This is our accountability tool and I need for you to honor it, even when you have to admit that you are behind. Just check in and move on. The we’ll all be praying even more so for you.)

Since we haven’t had much to read just yet, today I ask that you check in either by letting us know if you are up to date in the reading or share a few sentences about yourself and why you decided to join us. Find your group number, click on it and leave a comment on the page where it takes you. Many of you have not heard from your mentor just yet, but you will soon. If you haven’t yet,  please wait until you hear from your mentor and learn your group number to come back and check in. Check in will be open all week this time.

On Mondays, you may also link up a current blog post about your participation in Bible in 90 Days. Please also leave a check-in comment with your group, though, so your fellow group members will know about you. If you do link a blog post, you must also link from your post back to this check-in post so your readers can learn more about the challenge (and potentially join us!!)

Then, make plans to join us for our first Twitter party tonight from 8-9 CST. Be sure to follow the #B90Days hashtag. For more on Twitter, please read this post.

Today you should read pages 1-12 of The Bible in 90 Days Bible or Genesis 1:1- Genesis 16:16.

Follow this link to the Week 1 Reading Schedule for Bible in 90 Days as well as links to my SOAP Daily Devotional for each day.

I may be the only 14 year-old boy here, but I just proudly finished my first day of the 90 day challenge!

  5. Checking in for my first night… I’m about to go do the rest of the reading. Read some earlier before putting the boys to bed. Time to read the rest. Blessings to all!

I signed up late so no group for me but I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while and starting the new year with reading the bible through seemed like a good way to begin 2011! I’m excited to do this!

  8. I signed up late so I have no group. This is my check-in comment. As of right now I am up to date. I decided to join in the fun because as a busy Mom my Bible time has been neglected more than it should be as of late. This sounded like a fun way to squeeze it back into my schedule.

  9. I have not received my email yet but that is ok. I am still working on my reading for day 1, I am more than half way there and I am sure I will finish later on tonight. My plan is to work on it periodically throughout the day.

  10. I, too, signed up too late to be assigned to a group, but I’m going to tweet some other “unassigned” girls and see if they want to be an unofficial accountability group. I have not finished today’s reading but will tonight before bed. I’m on Genesis 4. My day didn’t get started as quickly as I wanted it too (lots of distractions), but I do my best reading at night anyway. I’m so looking forward to spending the next 90 days with you ladies! : )

  11. I signed up too late to be assigned a mentor, but I’m really excited to read the Bible in 90 days. I have never read it from cover-to-cover before. Thanks!

I am excited to do this challenge…it will be the first time I have attempted the challenge of reading the Bible in 90 days! Looking forward to all that God is going to teach me through this study.

Signed up late of course, but I’m really pumped about doing this!

  16. Just signed up today, and don’t expect to be in a group because of the lateness, but the daily reminders from facebook and the reading plan will be tremendous helps to me.
    Thank you!

  17. Amy,

I was late submitting my confirmation email for a group, but I was wondering if I could be in Cassandra’s group since she is a friend of mine?

In other news, I am happy to report that I finished my first day’s reading, yeah! I am so excited and proud of myself. However, it’s only day one, so I don’t want to get “too excited,” as I have alot more to read, oh dear, oh my!

    Blessings to All,

    -Lady Rose

  18. Hi! My 7 reading kids and I have completed today’s assignment! It was a crazy morning with several sick children – so it was easy to have THEM read, but I didn’t get mine done until nap time. Great to be going through this again, and I think my kids are already enjoying it.

  19. Just checking in. Haven’t received an email yet but will be patient. Read the first 16 chapters and even blogged it. Looking forward to getting to know the people in my mentor group.

  23. I am excited to do this again! I didn’t read yet today, and the next week will be tough while I am visiting family. But I know I can do it. I loved having scriptures running through my head all day last year. I haven’t heard from my mentor yet, but I hope to soon.

  28. Amy, group 20 works now. Thanks!

  29. Phew! I’m jumping in just in time…well, to late for a mentor, but at least on the right day! I was praying about a way to get my spiritual butt in gear so to speak, and then I came across the bible in 90 days! I’m excited to jump in!!! ^_^

  30. I’m excited to be reading the bible in such a concise way! I’m a mom of three, we home school, and we’re dealing with lots of food allergy issues. It will be nice to have some designated time with God everyday soaking in His word.

  31. The link for the Week 1 Reading Schedule isn’t working. At first it was taking me back to the home page. Now it says there’s an error.

    Hey,
Good to be starting again. Still waiting for the email from my mentor. Will start reading on my lunch break today. CAN’T WAIT!!!

  33. I found this Bible reading group in a Google search a few months back when you were midway through. I have been looking forward to reading with you since! I only replied to the ‘Yes, I’m in!’ email yesterday but hopefully it is not too late to add me to a group …I doubt I could do this without that interaction and support.
    Thanks for setting this up!

  34. Just joining in. Just found you through another blog. Looking forward to the rewards from reading!! Thanks.

  35. hey, everyone! I just wanted to pop in here to see who is reading. it’s great to see familiar faces, women I know via blogkeeping and Twitter. I’m so excited for you all! what an adventure you are embarking on today.

I was where you are right now, back on July 1 of last year. I’m glad to say I graduated on time, but it wasn’t as easy as I though it was going to be. I’m not reading this session, just being a cheerleader for Group/Team 31 – but I’m rooting, and praying, for each of you. :)

    be strong and courageous,

    monica

  36. I did not get signed up in time, but I did start my reading today. So wonderful to start the morning in the Word.

  37. I’m just getting ready to do the first reading.

Cannot wait to hear from the mentor for which ever group I am in and get to know everyone else.
